By Terry Pratchett.
The Discworld is in danger, heading towards a seemingly inevitable collision with a malevolent red star, its magic fading.
It needs a hero, and fast.
What it doesn’t need is Rincewind, an inept and cowardly wizard who is still recovering from the trauma of falling off the edge of the world. Or Twoflower, the well-meaning tourist whose luggage has a mind (and legs) of its own.
Which is a shame, because that’s all there is . . .
Rincewind and Twoflower continue their journey when Discworld appears to be crashing into a star and being destroyed. Rincewind has a spell stuck in his head, his only spell (the others are too scared to be in there), and it just might be a solution.
The duo head back to Ankh-Morpork and along the way are joined by a hero barbarian, prophecy fulfilling trolls all whilst dodging bandits, druids and DEATH, who has appeared with the other riders of the apocalypse. The wizards of Unseen University also want Rincewind’s spell thinking it will avert disaster.
All the while, Great A’tuin floats along who has their own plans in mind…
Very funny. Great one-liners, and unforgettable characters.
